Great Truth

Over the years I have come to accept as an axiom that:
One sign of a great truth is that the opposite is also a great truth.

I have seen many great examples. When someone asks me for an example, I always draw a blank. We need to start writing them down.

Do you have any examples?

Love is blind.
Hate is blind.

Are those opposites?
Or would the opposite be Hate can see?

"Selfishness impoverishes me."
"Selflessness enriches me."

But, I can also say "Selflessness impoverishes me" and attempt to make a case for it's truth.

I guess the first thing is to think about opposites and how they are defined and stated. Another approach would be to take a great truth and attempt to state the opposite.

Hmm? "One sign of a great lie is that the opposite is also a great lie -- or a great truth?"

And then there's the word 'great' -- great truth.

This is neither simple nor easy.

I agree with Paul. You'd have to define "great", first, and also what you mean by opposites.

If what I think you mean is true, then here's one case I can think of:

Love improves the world.
Hate destroys the world.
